Refer a patient
For physicians, gastroenterologists and family doctors who want a surgical opinion for a patient.
How it works
Three steps
- Send the referral. The button opens WhatsApp with a short form: your name, the patient's name and age, the problem and how soon it needs to be seen.
- Attach the reports. Scans, endoscopy, biopsy and blood reports help decide whether surgery is needed before the patient travels.
- Hear back. You receive the plan after the consultation, and a discharge summary after any surgery. The patient returns to you for ongoing care.
What he sees
Common reasons to refer
- Symptomatic gallbladder stones, or stones with pancreatitis or a bile duct stone
- Groin, umbilical, incisional and recurrent hernias
- Piles, fissures and fistulas not settling with medical treatment
- Patients with severe obesity being considered for bariatric surgery
- A suspected or confirmed cancer of the stomach, colon, rectum, liver, gallbladder or pancreas
- Complications of pancreatitis, peptic ulcer or inflammatory bowel disease that may need surgery
For an emergency, send the patient to the nearest emergency department and message at the same time.
